May 1 - Independent Project
I finished painting my alien. I am just waiting for it to dry now. I also am done with my coil pot and one of my bowls from the wheel. They have been glazed.
May 3 - Independent Project
I have made a lot of progress on my independent project and I think I am almost done. I can't wait to let it dry and paint it, it is going to look awesome. I have been working on adding some more features, I tried to add some muscle tone, grass and rocks. I have also glazed a couple of my pieces. They just need to be fired again. There are also some pictures of my finished pieces.
April 26 - Independent Project
I have started working on my independent project because I completed my coil and slab projects. They only need to be fired and painted. I have decided for my independent project to create an alien leaning against a tree. I am using the coil technique for the arms and the legs and using the pinch pot technique for the a tree. I think it is coming along pretty nice and I am excited to see how it turns out. I will probably add more detail like grass and rocks.
April 20 - Slab, Coil and Kiln.
I have completely my coil pot and I really like it, it just needs to dry. I am practically done with my slab pot. Our slab project was that we needed to roll out our clay and cut then into a shape we wanted and make walls to fit it together to form some type of pot or shape. I chose to make a cup. It is four was that I curved and then smoothed out. I also have put more things in the kiln like my ice cream sundae and bowls that I made on the wheel.
April 13 - Coil Pot
I have continued to build onto my coil pot. I and now just going to round it in some more and build a lip. It is almost done and I am happy with the way it is looking!
April 5 - Coil Pots and Kiln
I have finished throwing on the wheel and now I am starting my coil pot. The idea of this project is to create an 8 inch sculpture of choice using the coiling technique. My plan is to create a pot with a base and curve the top of the pot. I think I can do this well and then I plan on painting it to make it look really pretty. I am also going to smooth out the sides so you can only see the coils on the inside. I have also put my ice cream in the kiln.
3/29 - Throwing On the Wheel/Glazing
I am finished throwing on the wheel. I have to trim one more bowl once it is dry enough. I finished glazing my ice cream and I am beginning to glaze my pieces from the wheel.
3/22 - Throwing On the Wheel
My bowl has been glazed and I have completed two of my projects on the wheel. We were supposed to make a 6 inch tall cylinder and a bowl. I think that my bowl looks pretty good and I am happy with it. My cylinder is the best one that I completed. It took me 4 or 5 tries to get one that turned out okay. I also finished painting the top of my ice cream sundae. I next need to put a clear glaze on my yellow bowl.
3/15 - Pinch Pot
I am still working on glazing my ice cream sundae. I have now starting working on the wheel and we have to throw a cylinder and a bowl. I have painted my bowl and began the top scoop of my ice cream. Next I am going to add mroe yellow paint to where I accidentally overlapped the purple out of the wholes.
3/8 - Pinch Pot
I am ready to begin glazing. My pinch pots are at a leather hard stage. I have smoothed out my bowls and I think that my bowls look like scoops of ice cream and how I want them to look.
3/1 - Pinch Pot/ Stamps
We are making pinch pots right now. We are supposed to create at least 3 pinch pots that coincide with each other in some way. I decided to create a bowl and three more pinch pots to make an ice cream sundae. In the photos for March 3/1 there is also pictures of my stamps that I was suppose to create to make a signature to mark my pots with. I also decided to make a flower for design. My sketch is included as well.
